CHARACTER and LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT: Includes the Torch Club, where members ages 6 to 18 elect officers, plan and implement their own activities and community service projects. Also offers a Youth of the Year leadership and recognition program that encourages scholarship and develops public speaking skills. This program last a year.
EDUCATION and CAREER DEVELOPMENT: Provides a learning center dedicated to helping youth improve their study habits, academic careers and make good life choices. The POWER HOUR program offers members after-school homework help and tutoring.
HEALTH and LIFE SKILLS: Encourages young people to engage in positive behaviors by offering a multitude of prevention programs including Street Smart, which is a drug, alcohol, gang, and pregnancy prevention program for pre-teens. Other programs include Smart Kids, a critical thinking and emotions management program, and Act Smart, an HIV and AIDS prevention program.
The ARTS: Provides a dedicated cultural arts room for classes in fine arts, crafts, creative writing, and photography.
SPORTS, FITNESS, and RECREATION: Offers organized athletic teams for soccer, basketball and some unique athletic competitions. A variety of low organized sports and games are run daily.
COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY: Provides a computer lab with Internet access and through daily technology programs youth learn about such things as word processing, internet research, digital photography and keyboard typing.
