    OVERVIEW: Offers hands-on, environmental educational programs for students from elementary through high school and the general public. Also offers annual professional development opportunities for teachers and environmental education practitioners. all groups must have Reservation.


    1) HARD BARGAIN FARM ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER: Provides day and overnight programs for elementary to middle school students (pre-K to 8th grade) to promote understanding and stewardship of the natural resources in the Potomac River Watershed and the legacy of farming in America. Activities include hikes, farm life exploration, canoe trips and bird watching.     2) BRIDGING THE WATERSHED (BTW): Provides field experiences for high school students (9th-12th grades) in national parks in the Potomac Watershed to better understand the environmental issues that threaten its health. Includes fish, bird, soil & river studies; hikes; farm life exploration, etc. Call 301-292-8757 or email Heather Zdobysz at for program information.

    3) TRASH-FREE POTOMAC WATERSHED INITIATIVE (TFPWI): is a program to reduce trash and increase recycling, education and awareness of trash issues in the Watershed. Call 202-973-8203 or email Heather Zdobysz at for program information.

    4) WAREHAM LODGE: Available for weekend rentals by non-profit groups and community organizations. Facilities include bunkrooms for up to 44 persons, large meeting room, kitchen and spacious outdoor setting. Call 301-292-5867 for additional information. 

    5) OUTREACH: Sponsors the annual Potomac River Watershed Cleanup, Spring Farm Festival, Oktoberfest, Concerts and Theater in the Woods presentations.
