    Agency: Talbot County Public Schools

    PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Provides free education for all students of all abilities in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Also has responsibility for curriculum and staff development.

    -Adult Education: GED preparation and Adult Basic Education (ABE) courses are offered at various places throughout the county. Contact student services office.

    -Career and Technology Education: Provides students with a wide range of careers that require varying levels of education from high school and post secondary certificates to apprenticeships or two and four year college degrees.

    -Food Services: Offers free or reduced fee breakfast and lunch programs to students who qualify. The income guidelines are set by the federal government and have been adopted for school students across the state.

    -Homeless Children: Parents who are homeless should contact their Homeless Education Liaison to assist their child in attaining proper support and education.

    -Pupil Services: Psychologists, guidance counselors and pupil personnel workers offer emotional and educational guidance counseling and psychological testing and services throughout the school system.

    -Special Education: Teachers, pupil personnel workers, psychologists, guidance counselors and administrators provide an education plan for children from birth to age 21 who need special services because of cognitive, emotional, or physical limitations. Assessments can be arranged at anytime in the child's life from birth through age 21. After assessment, an appropriate, least restrictive education program will be designed for the child. Programs for infants, and their parents, and specialized pre-school programs are offered. Students who cannot attend school due to a chronic illness or accident are provided with in-home education.
