    OVERVIEW: Provides a wide range of health, addiction and preventative services to Somerset County residents.

    SERVICES:
    1) FAMILY PLANNING: Offers a variety of reproductive health services to teens, women of childbearing age and men. Provides birth control, counseling, contraceptive supplies,  the clinic is open on Thursday by appointment only.

    2) COMMUNICABLE DISEASES: Offers public awareness, education, and controlled measures to stop the spread of infectious diseases.

    3) GERIATRIC EVALUATION SERVICES: Provides medical and psychiatric evaluations of persons aged 60 and older to prevent inappropriate institutionalization. Helps families obtain needed community services. Call 443-523-1800.

    4) BREAST & CERVICAL CANCER PROGRAM: Offers breast exams, mammograms and pap test to detect problems early. Individuals may qualify at no cost if you have no health insurance or if you have insurance that does not cover screenings for breast and cervical cancer, if you are between the age of 40-64 and must be a resident of Somerset County.

    5) COLORECTAL CANCER: Offers screening for early detection and treatment. Individuals must be between the ages of 50-64, have no health insurance or nor health insurance that covers screening for colorectal caner and you must be a resident of Somerset County.

    6) IMMUNIZATIONS FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN: Influenza vaccine is offered during the flu season clinics. Adult vaccines are hepatitus A&B, rabies pre-exposure, shingles, meningoccal and pneumoccal. Parents must contact their child's doctor or the health dpt to make sure immunizations are up to date.

    7) VITAL RECORDS (BIRTH & DEATH CERTIFICATES): Can be obtained at the Health Dpt. for a fee of $32 for copy of birth certificate and $34 for  copy of death certificate. Call for more information 410-523-1700.

    8) ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: Inspects and licenses restaurants, food processing plants, trailer parks, foster homes and public swimming pools. Issues permits for residential wells and sewage systems. Monitors air and water quality in compliance with State standards. Sponsors rabies control program. Call 443-523-1730.

    9) HEALTH PROMOTION/OUTREACH: Provides medical information to the public on health related topics in an effort to better educate individuals with needed knowledge to make adequate medical decisions for themselves and their loved ones. Outreach efforts include participation in health fairs, neighborhood events and community gatherings.

    10) CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE: The goal of the Cardiovascular Disease risk reduction program is to reduce disease, disability, and death related to CVD by promoting healthy lifestyle behavior among individuals by teaching self-management skills, detecting and controlling risk factors by

    11) NUTRITION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY CONTROL: Offers nutrition education and dietary instruction to Somerset County residents. These programs are provided to groups in various locations throughout Somerset County. They include, but can be modified for the specific needs of the participants, weight loss, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, label reading, recipe modifications, healthy cooking demonstrations, etc. The classes provide hands on information for the purpose of lifestyle modification for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and associated risk factors. 

    12) DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES ADMINISTRATION (DDA): Provides resource coordination to individuals with developmental disorders and their families. Our staff provides assistance to clients in accessing evaluation, treatment, residential, respite, and rehabilitation services. For more information call 443-523-1800.

    13) AERS (ADULT EVALUATION & REVIEW: Offers assistance to the aged and functionally disabled adults, who are at risk of being institutionalized. Staff provides comprehensive evaluation to identify services available to help individuals to remain in the community.

    14) ANIMAL RABIES CONTROL: Clinics are offered at several locations during the spring and fall to provide for the economical vaccination of dogs, cats and ferrets. There is a fee of $6 per vaccination.

    15) REFUGE HEALTH: Provides a comprehensive health assessment screenings and follow-up care to federally determined and state referred refugees, asylees, parolees and other immigrants.
